Cruise Ship Sank In China

450+ Passengers on Eastern Star Cruise Ship Missing After Sinking

Relatives Grieve as Rescue Efforts Continue

Over 450 people are missing after a cruise ship sank in the Yangtze River in central China on Monday night. Relatives of the passengers and crew gathered at the scene on Tuesday, expressing grief and desperation as rescue efforts continued.

The Eastern Star, carrying 456 people, was en route from Nanjing to Chongqing when it capsized in a sudden storm. The cause of the sinking is still under investigation, but officials said rough weather and strong currents may have played a role.

More than 100 people have been rescued so far, but the fate of the remaining passengers and crew remains unknown. Rescue workers are searching the river and surrounding areas for survivors, but hopes of finding anyone alive are fading.

The sinking of the Eastern Star is one of the worst maritime disasters in recent years. It has raised questions about safety standards on Chinese cruise ships and the adequacy of emergency response plans.
